The short version
The Puglia Edit has no forms. If you write to us by email, we use your message only to reply and keep it no longer than that exchange needs. Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept it, and you can withdraw at any time from Cookie settings in the footer. The click counter on booking links stores no IP address and nothing about you.
This notice explains in plain words what happens to your data on The Puglia Edit. It covers the emails you send us, the click counter on booking links and the analytics you can accept or refuse.
Who is responsible for your data?
The controller is [TO COMPLETE: legal name and address of the controller]. To reach us about your data, write to [email protected].
What do we collect?
Browsing the site, we count visits without cookies and without identifying you (Cloudflare Web Analytics, below). Beyond that, the site collects nothing about you except in the cases below.
Email you send us. The site has no forms and does not pass requests on to venues. If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and what you write.
Click counter. When you use a booking button, we add one to a counter that holds the day, the stay, the provider and the page language (English or Italian). It holds no IP address, no cookie and no personal data, so it is not personal data under the GDPR.
Visit count, without cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views: the page, the referring site, the browser and device type, the country and how fast the page loaded. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser and does not follow you across sites, so it needs no consent.
Analytics, only if you accept. If you accept analytics in the consent bar, Google Analytics 4 records how the pages are used: which pages are viewed, the approximate location, the device and browser, and how you arrived. It sets cookies for that purpose. If you refuse or ignore the bar, none of this is collected and no analytics cookie is set.
Why do we use it, and on what legal basis?
We use the email you send us only to reply to you. The basis is your own request: you wrote to us to get an answer. We do not forward your message to venues or to anyone else.
We use analytics only with your consent, to see which pages readers use and to improve them. The basis is that consent, and refusing it changes nothing about what you can read or do on the site.
Who else handles your data?
Cloudflare hosts the site. Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards in its data processing terms.
Google provides Google Analytics 4 and acts for us in processing its measurements. It loads only after you accept analytics, under Google Consent Mode, which starts with analytics storage denied. Your IP address is handled by Google under its own terms, and Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. We do not switch on Google’s advertising features, and we do not use the data for advertising.
Cloudflare also provides Cloudflare Web Analytics, the cookieless visit count described above.
The interactive map loads only when you click it, and then your browser asks OpenFreeMap for map tiles directly.
How long do we keep it?
We use an email only to reply and keep it no longer than needed for that exchange. We delete it earlier if you ask. The click counter holds no personal data, so there is nothing in it to delete.
Cookies and tracking
Before you choose, the site sets no tracking cookie and loads no Google Analytics; only the cookieless Cloudflare visit count runs. A consent bar offers “Accept” and “Refuse” with equal weight. Only if you accept does Google Analytics 4 load and set its cookies.
To withdraw your consent, or to give it later, open “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page and change your choice. Withdrawing stops new measurement. It does not undo what was recorded before.
How long Google Analytics keeps its data is a retention setting of the analytics property, chosen by the controller in the Google Analytics settings. Data held in the property is deleted when that period ends.
The fonts are served from our own site. No advertising or social media scripts are loaded.
What are your rights?
You can ask us for access to your data, for a correction, for deletion, to restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, or to object to its use. You can withdraw a consent at any time, which does not affect what we did before.
To use any of these rights, write to the email address above, with The Puglia Edit in the subject line. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or the authority in your country of residence.
